Canadian-Owned. Sourced at Origin in Ethiopia.
Ethiopian Beans is a Canadian coffee company built on a family legacy in Ethiopian coffee. Our father spent over 30 years as a local coffee sourcer and trader in Ethiopia, working directly with farming communities and building relationships across the country's most renowned growing regions.
In 2022, we, the brothers, took that foundation international by founding Ethio Coffee Export. Today that means running our own drying station in Guji Hambella, where we collect and process coffee directly from local farmers, alongside sourcing from trusted cooperatives and washing stations across Yirgacheffe, Sidama, Harar, Limu, and beyond. With one of us based in Canada, Ethiopian Beans was born to bring the best of that sourcing directly to Canadian kitchens.

We care deeply about what ends up in your cup. That means being involved at every step, from cherry selection at the farm to the final roast here in Canada.
Cupped and Graded: Every lot is tasted and scored before we roast it. If it doesn't meet our standards, it doesn't make the cut.
No Middlemen: Because we source through our own family export operation, including our own drying station in Guji Hambella, there are no brokers or mystery in the supply chain. You get full visibility from origin to cup.
Fast, Fresh Delivery: Orders ship quickly across Canada so your coffee reaches you close to roast date, not weeks later.
Community First: We pay fair prices to the farming communities we source from and invest in the regions that grow our coffee, because great coffee starts with the people who nurture it.

Great coffee doesn't happen by accident. It's grown, picked, processed, sorted, and moved by hand, often by families who have been doing this work for generations. Through Ethio Coffee Export, we are there at every stage, from collecting cherry at our own drying station in Guji Hambella, to the washing station, to the port, before we roast and deliver it fresh to your door.

When our father was young, he traveled across Ethiopia with our grandfather, who traded goods from region to region. Those trips taught our father how people live, how communities work, and how much care goes into what the land produces.
Our grandfather traded many goods, but coffee is what captured our father’s attention and never let go. As our father got deeper into the coffee world, he saw something that never sat right: the farmers doing the hardest work were often the last to benefit when the coffee left the village.
So our father did what he always did: he showed up. He spent years working closely with farming communities, not only buying coffee but learning how it is grown and prepared. He supported cooperatives so farmers could access better markets and keep more value, and built lasting relationships rooted in mutual respect.
For the last 30 years, our father has worked with many farmers and local buyers across Ethiopia, moving coffee season after season. He learned what buyers need, what farmers face, and how small details in picking, drying, sorting, and storage decide whether a lot stays great or loses value. That long, practical experience is the foundation we stand on today.
Our father built his reputation in local trade, supplying coffee through relationships he earned over decades. In 2022, we formalized Ethio Coffee Export PLC to take that foundation to the international market, building an export-ready operation with clearer communication, better transparency, and quality our partners can plan around.
Through Ethio Coffee Export, we established our own drying station in Guji Hambella, one of Ethiopia's most celebrated specialty coffee origins. We now collect cherry directly from smallholder farmers in the area and process it ourselves, giving us hands-on control over quality from cherry intake through drying. This deepens our presence at origin and strengthens the traceability behind every bean we roast.
Through Ethio Coffee Export, we source coffee from trusted cooperatives, washing stations, and farming communities, collect and process cherry at our own drying station in Guji Hambella, prepare lots for export from our warehouse in Addis Ababa, and work with buyers who care about traceability and consistency. We still measure success the same way our father taught us: by keeping promises, protecting quality, and making sure farmers remain central to the story.
With one brother based in Canada, Ethiopian Beans was then born to bring the best Ethiopian coffee directly to Canadian kitchens. Every bean we sell is sourced through Ethio Coffee Export, from trusted cooperatives and farming communities in Ethiopia, then freshly roasted and delivered to coffee lovers across Canada.
